So my neighbor's new security light totally blasted my Orion photo session. I'm torn between asking them to tone it down on clear nights or just admitting defeat to light pollution. Where do you stand on this?

Seriously, just go talk to them. Most people have no clue their lights are that annoying. Bring over a photo of what you're trying to capture and show them the glare. You'd be surprised how often a simple ask fixes it.

Wow, that's just awful! A security light so bright it messes with star photos? Light pollution is a real problem for folks who love the night sky. I've found that many neighbors simply don't know how their lights spill over and cause issues. It might be worth having a friendly chat with them about it. Explain how the light affects your hobby, and they might be happy to tone it down on clear nights. Giving up without trying feels wrong when we're already losing so much darkness to city lights.

Ugh, that's the worst! Barbara makes a good point about talking to them. It reminds me of how bad lighting messes with local wildlife too, like birds and bats getting totally lost. Have you noticed that around your place?
