Shot the moon at 1/500 for 2 years until a guy in Tucson asked why my noise was so bad
He said stop bumping ISO and just use a tripod, and my very next shot came out clean at ISO 200.

Man, same thing happened to me. Spent a whole summer cranking ISO to 6400 on handheld moon shots and wondered why they looked like sandpaper, then a buddy let me borrow his tripod and ISO 100 looked like a different camera.
