I was wrong about stacking filters on deep space photos

For years I thought combining narrowband and broadband filters was just a gimmick to cover up bad data. Then I shot the Orion Nebula last October with both an Ha and an OIII filter layered together, and the detail in the dust lanes blew me away. Has anyone else had a similar experience with mixing filters on a single target?

lol "cover up bad data" that's exactly what I used to think too. Wait, the dust lanes in Orion actually popped more with the Ha/OIII combo? That's wild, I gotta try that next season.

Cover up bad data" - yeah, next I'll try blaming the clouds for my focus issues.
