Finally got my first clear shot of the Orion Nebula after months of trying

Been fighting with light pollution and clouds since October. Last night everything lined up. Used my old 8 inch Dobsonian and a basic DSLR. Stacked 45 exposures, each 30 seconds long. The core detail came out way better than I expected. Anyone else start with backyard gear and get surprised by the results?

My old 6 inch reflector pulled in the Whirlpool Galaxy last spring. Just a cheap used camera mount. Stacked maybe 30 two minute subs and the spiral arms were actually there. Felt like cheating.

Nice! My buddy's old 5 inch reflector and a borrowed tracking mount got the Ring Nebula last year. We only stacked like 20 one-minute shots and the donut shape was totally clear, it was wild.
