Am I the only one who gets annoyed when people post a picture of a planet and don't say what scope they used?

It's like, how am I supposed to know if that's a decent shot of Jupiter or not without knowing the gear. Saw a great Saturn pic the other day, but the poster just said 'took this last night'.

Seriously, it drives me nuts! I need that info to judge the effort, you know? Like, was that Saturn with a phone held to a cheap scope, or a giant rig in a backyard observatory? It changes everything. Leaving it out just feels like showing off without the useful part.

My old 6-inch reflector from a garage sale taught me gear is just one part of it. The real story is the hours spent learning to process a blurry image into something clear. Sometimes people are just excited to share the picture itself, not the shopping list. I’d rather see a cool photo and ask about the setup later than have someone not post at all because they forgot their camera model.

Totally get the frustration, but sometimes people just forget to list their gear.
