Shoutout to the $3 drain snake at Harbor Freight that fixed my kitchen sink in 20 minutes
My kitchen sink was draining slow for about a month and I kept dumping that green Drano stuff down it. That cost me $12 a bottle and did nothing. My neighbor Ed told me to skip the plumber and grab a cheap hand snake, so I got one for $3 and pulled out a wad of hair and coffee grounds the size of a small animal. Has anyone else had luck with the cheap tools over the name brand ones, or did I just get lucky this time?
Cheap tools get a bad rap because people assume price equals quality, but half the stuff in my garage that actually works cost less than a sandwich. My $15 heat gun has outlived two "pro" brands, and the plastic wedge I use for tile cost a dollar and does the same job as the $20 one. The name brands mostly sell you marketing and a nicer handle. You didn't get lucky, you just stopped paying for the label.
