I finally tracked down a 1978 city directory for my hometown project
Honestly, I spent three weeks hitting dead ends trying to find who lived at my grandma's old house on Maple Street back in the day. Then a librarian at the main branch in Dayton told me they keep old city directories in a back room that isn't even listed in the online catalog. She pulled the 1978 volume for me and there it was, my family's name and a plumber who worked out of the garage. I scanned 14 pages on my phone and now I'm hooked on these old books. Has anyone else dug into city directories for a family or house history project?
