That Viking runestone in Norway changed how I read old markings

I was reading about the Svingerud runestone found near Oslo, dated around 1 CE, and someone in the comments called it 'just scratches.' That rubbed me wrong. Those 24 runes might be the oldest known in the world, and they show people were experimenting with writing way earlier than textbooks admit. Has anyone else felt like certain finds get brushed off because they don't fit the neat timeline?

Is it just me, or do people call anything older than their grandma 'just scratches'? I once tried to read my own handwriting from a receipt and it looked like ancient runes too, so maybe I get the skepticism.
