Just read about a dig that found something totally ordinary but amazing

There was this team in Turkey working on a site they almost gave up on, and they found a small clay tablet with writing. It looks like it's just a list of goods, maybe from 3000 years ago, which is crazy because it tells us what people were buying back then. It's not a king's treasure, but knowing about their daily stuff feels like a real win. What's your favorite find that shows how regular people lived?

Those daily lists are a direct line to how people actually lived. My pick would be worn-out shoes from digs, which @noah421's take makes sense for. You can almost feel the blisters from centuries ago.

Totally! My mate who volunteers on digs once showed me a photo of a broken wooden spinning top from like the 1600s. It was just a kid's toy someone lost, plain as day. Stuff like that hits different because it's so normal it's magic.
