Had to choose between a full removal or a risky crown reduction on a big oak in Tacoma.

The client wanted to save the tree but it was leaning over their garage. I went with the reduction, taking off about 30% of the canopy. It's holding for now, but I'm still nervous about the next big wind. Would you have done the same?

That garage roof line is the real problem... a big flat target for falling limbs. I'd have checked if they could reinforce it with some steel beams first.

Ever notice how those flat garage roofs just collect everything? I had a client last year who ignored a similar sagging spot, and a single wet snow load caused a full collapse of the center beam. Reinforcing it early is way cheaper than a total rebuild after it caves in.

I mean, my neighbor's flat carport roof got so packed with wet leaves it started pulling away from the house. He kept saying he'd clean it next weekend, but then we got that heavy rain in October and the whole thing just peeled off like a lid.
