That $90 compressor tester taught me more than the class did
Signed up for a sealed system webinar last month thinking I knew it all. The instructor went on about superheat and subcooling, but the real eye opener was measuring compressor efficiency with a $90 tester from Amazon. I ran it on 5 units in my garage in Austin, and 2 had windings that tested fine but pulled way too many amps under load. Never caught that before because I always trusted the ohm readings alone. Now I check amp draw on every cap replacement job, has anyone else seen that trick save a callback?
