Registration push in my city has repair guys split
The city council is trying to make all appliance repairers get a permit. Some techs say it will help customers trust us more, but others argue it's just extra cost. Have you dealt with this where you are?

I've been in appliance repair for about twelve years now. The permit thing doesn't really mean a tech knows what they're doing, it just means they paid the city. Some guys like it because it cuts down on competition from random people working out of their van. Real trust comes from good reviews and showing up on time, not from a piece of paper.

Might be missing that some cities do make you pass a basic safety test for the permit. It's not everything, but it's not totally useless either.

Oh good, so a permit just means they can afford the fee. So our best hope is someone with a van and good timing?
