Cheap multimeter leads kept giving me false readings until last Tuesday

I was chasing a voltage drop on a dryer at a job in Tacoma, swapped leads and it magically fixed the problem. Turns out the cheap set had a break inside the insulation that only showed when bent a certain way. Anyone else had test leads lie to them and waste an hour?
