I finally stopped touring apartments on weekends after a Thursday visit
I spent 3 months looking at places every Saturday and kept getting shown units that seemed fine but had weird noise. Then I took a Thursday afternoon off work and toured a building near the train tracks in Chicago. The difference was night and day, I could actually hear the trains and street traffic that gets muffled on weekends. Not saying weekend tours are useless, but I think you only see the 'best version' of a place then. Has anyone else switched to weekday visits and noticed the same thing?
Weekday visits are the only way to catch the real character of a place, especially near transit. Took me a few duds to learn that Sunday vibes are basically the landlord's highlight reel. Always do at least one walk-by during rush hour, you'll dodge a lot of regret.
