Hot take: I offered to sign an 18 month lease sight unseen and the landlord got suspicious
I applied for a 1 bedroom in Austin last spring and offered to sign 18 months right then if he would drop the rent by $50. He went quiet for two days and then asked if I was "running some kind of scheme," which I was not, I just hate moving. So now I want to know, does acting eager to a landlord ever help or does it always read as a red flag?
18 months in Austin and the guy thinks you are laundering money for the cartel. Eager usually reads as desperate, and desperate tenants mean trouble to a landlord. Next time just say you hate moving and leave it at that.
