Shoutout to the library anime tape swaps
Anime talk in my area used to be all about trading tapes at the library. These days, it's just quick posts on social media, and I miss the long chats.

That tape trading was part of how things used to be more about slow, shared hobbies. Now a lot of stuff feels like it's just quick hits online instead of real connections.

Try having a DEEP conversation about anime endings when everyone just watches clips online. Back in the tape swap days, you had to actually LISTEN to people ramble about filler episodes for hours. Now it's all hot takes and moving on before the next trend. I miss when a bad dub was a shared tragedy, not just a meme.

That "shared tragedy" line is so true. My buddy spent like two weeks hunting down a VHS copy of the End of Evangelion dub back in the day, the really bad one. When he finally got it, five of us crammed into his room to watch it and just yelled at the TV the whole time. It was awful, but we still quote those bad lines at each other. Now that whole thing would just be a ten second clip with a funny sound over it. What was the last show you watched that actually made you stop and talk about it, @the_quinn?
