Honestly, I just figured out why I always skip the first 5 minutes of a new anime

Tbh, last Tuesday I was trying to watch the first episode of 'Frieren' and got super annoyed by the long recap and opening song. I checked my watch and realized I had spent 12 minutes before the actual story even started. I started skipping straight to the 5-minute mark for the next three shows I tried, and it made everything way better. Ngl, it felt like I got my time back and could actually get into the plot faster. Has anyone else just started doing this to avoid the slow start?

Missing the opening is a huge mistake though. The recap sets up the whole mood and the theme song gets you in the right headspace. Skipping it means you're not getting the full experience the creators intended, you're just rushing to the plot.

Actually makes me wonder about the whole idea of "intent." Sure, the creators put it there, but once it's out in the world, how people use it is up to them. Some folks are just rewatching a show for the tenth time and don't need the mood set again. The full experience changes depending on the person and the moment.
