Shoutout to the guy at the Columbus repair cafe who told me to clean the battery contacts before anything else
Two sides here. My dad said my dead Game Boy was the capacitor and I should not waste time on the little stuff. The guy at the repair cafe in Columbus, a volunteer named Rick, said 9 out of 10 dead Game Boys he sees in 2023 just need the battery contacts scrubbed with vinegar and a pencil eraser. I tried it first because it was free. It turned on in about 10 minutes and my dad was a little annoyed. But now I keep hearing people say the capacitor will die soon anyway so I am just delaying it. Which side is right? Do I open it up now or wait until it actually breaks?
