PSA: that 'simple' cassette deck grease job took me 5 evenings
I finally got my old Akai GX-4000D deck back this week, thought a drop of oil on the pinch roller arm would fix the wow. Turns out the grease had turned to glue and baked into the mechanism like a fossil. Needed disassembly, heptane soak, and a $14 tube of white lithium grease from the hardware store in Tacoma. Anyone else find that one stuck component eats your whole week?
