Appreciation post: that $15 deoxit spray saved my old receiver

I had this Pioneer receiver from the 70s that kept cutting out on the right channel, especially when I touched the volume knob. I was about to take it to a shop and pay $80 for diagnostics but a guy on YouTube mentioned just spraying the pots with Deoxit D5. After I did a couple of the knobs and switched the thing back on, it's been working perfect for about two weeks now. Anybody else had luck with just cleaning instead of replacing parts?

Hold on, you were about to pay $80 just for someone to look at it? That is insane. I would have laughed at that price and walked right out the door. Deoxit is pretty much magic for old gear, I have saved two old amps and a vintage cassette deck with the stuff myself. It is crazy how a little $15 spray can fix something that feels completely broken, and it is way better than throwing money at a repair shop for something that simple.

Bro for real! I had this old receiver that wouldn't even turn on and figured it was toast. One shot of Deoxit in the volume pot and it works like new, saved me a huge headache and way more than $80 lol.
