Found out the original Shawshank script had Red as white

I was reading through the screenplay drafts at a library archive in Portland last month and apparently the first version had Morgan Freeman's character written as an Irish guy in his 50s. That blew my mind because the whole vibe of the ending shifts if you picture that. Anyone else ever stumble on a draft fact that completely reframes a movie for you?

My buddy found a draft of Alien where Ripley was a guy, and honestly the whole shower scene hits different.
