Spent 4 hours chasing a ground loop in a Denver basement job

spent four hours on it total, and the fix took fifteen minutes once I saw the pipe. I'm just annoyed I didn't check the ground path first because I always tell apprentices to do that. The customer was cool about it but I could tell he was getting tired of me walking back and forth to the van. I ended up charging him half the labor just to keep the peace, which stung. Any of you ever had a similar gremlin that turned out to be a shared ground with an appliance?
