Switched from paper logs to a tablet on the line, kinda miss the old way
Been doing A&P work since 2008 and always kept my daily inspection notes in a pocket spiral binder. Got forced onto a tablet system by the company back in March and now every defect entry needs three taps plus a photo upload.
Don't get me wrong, tracking torque values on landing gear is way easier now, but has anyone else found the extra screen time messing with your flow when you're juggling two planes at once? What do you guys use to keep quick notes without slowing down?
Wondering if the real problem isnt the tablet but the timing of when you enter stuff. Used to be you could scribble a defect note mid-task and log it proper at lunch. Now the system makes you stop and do the whole three-tap photo thing right when you spot it, which kills your rhythm worse than the screen itself. Try treating the tablet like a scratch pad, type a two word note and move on, then go back and do the full entry when both planes are parked. The flow issue is really about being forced to finish a thought before you can move to the next task, not the tapping.
