Need a better system for sorting aircraft parts at home

I've been picking up small parts from old planes for a side project, and my garage is packed with bolts, rivets, and sheet metal pieces. I got a bunch of plastic bins to organize them, but labeling is turning into a headache. I want to set it up so I can grab what I need without digging through everything. Should I go with color tabs, number tags, or just write the part names on the bins? Some of these components are almost identical but fit different aircraft models, and I'm scared I'll mix them up by accident. How do you handle this kind of thing in your own space? If you've got a method that works, I'd really like to hear about it.

Your garage sounds more organized than my whole house lol.

Truthfully most garages are just fancy junk drawers with better lighting. You start with good intentions, then suddenly there's a pile of holiday decorations next to an old bike and three mystery boxes from 2012. It's where organization plans go to die slowly, behind the unused camping gear. That clean outside look is usually just a very convincing door.

Only from the outside, @cameron371. Inside it's total chaos.
