Vent: my buddy who builds cabinets says AI is all hype, and I can't stop chewing on his reason
My buddy Dave, who's run a cabinet shop over in Lorain for about 15 years, told me over coffee Saturday that he tried one of those AI layout tools for 3 weeks and went back to graph paper. He said it kept giving him cabinet sizes that looked fine on screen but wouldn't clear a 2 inch filler strip in a real corner, so he was fixing its work more than doing his own. I keep hearing people say these tools are about to run the whole trades, so am I wrong for thinking the real gap is that nobody's teaching these models how a job site actually goes together?
