Talking to my kid's teacher about AI in class
I was at a school thing last week and my son's teacher said they're using an AI tool that helps kids write stories. She said it doesn't do the work for them, but gives them ideas when they get stuck. It made me think about how we always talk about AI taking jobs, but not as much about it helping people learn new things. She showed me a story a kid wrote with it, and the kid added way more detail than usual. It's not just for tech stuff anymore. Has anyone else seen AI used in schools or for learning in a cool way?

Oh wow, that's actually really cool to hear. I mean, my daughter's class uses something similar for math, where the AI gives her a different way to solve a problem if she's stuck on the first way they taught. It's not just giving answers, it's like having another way to explain things. Idk, maybe it's just me but seeing it help kids get past that frustration block is pretty neat. It feels less scary when you see it used like a tool instead of a replacement.

My local library just started a free AI tutor program for homework help, which feels like the same shift. It's moving from this abstract threat to a normal helper, like when calculators stopped being controversial.
