I almost turned around at the entrance of the old Century III mall in Pittsburgh last Friday
Honestly I drove 40 minutes to check out the dead mall in West Mifflin and almost bailed when I saw the fence and the "no trespassing" signs. But a guy coming out with a camera bag told me the security crew actually lets people walk the outer ring on weekdays if you sign in at the office, so I went for it. What changed my mind was seeing the old Sears auto center bay still had a 1998 inspection sticker on the door and a handwritten oil change price of $21.99 in dry erase marker. I walked maybe a quarter mile of empty hallway and counted 11 dead payphones and one Orange Julius sign still lit up like nothing happened. Tbh the food court skylights were leaking onto the tile in three spots and it looked like little ponds. Has anyone here actually gotten inside the main concourse, or is the outer ring the best you can do now?
