Found an old arcade token that sparked a whole conversation
At the dead mall in Tucson, I noticed a token stuck in a cracked floor tile near a dried-up fountain. A security guard, maybe 60, said he remembered when that spot was a packed arcade in 1987 and people would fight over the Street Fighter machine. He told me his first paycheck as a teen went to those tokens, and we just sat there talking for 20 minutes about how malls used to feel like the center of everything. Anyone else ever get a random stranger's memory like that during an exploration?
