Found a 1992 directory board in the old Sunrise Mall food court
I mean, everyone says these places are totally empty, but I keep seeing people miss the small stuff. Last weekend in Citrus Heights, I was looking at this faded map and realized it still had a store called 'Software Etc.' listed, which became GameStop in 1999. It matters because that date proves the mall died way slower than folks think. Has anyone else found a directory that tells a story like that?

Yeah, that's the kind of detail you have to look for. I always check the copyright year on the directory itself, not just the store list, because they'd often slap a new sticker over an old one. Found one where the panel was from '87 but half the stores had been gone for a decade.

Honestly, I never used to check the panel itself. I'd just glance at the store list and figure that was good enough. Your point about the old sticker really shows how they'd try to pass it off as current. It makes me wonder how many outdated maps I've trusted over the years. I'm going to start looking at that copyright date first from now on.
