inUnpopular opinion: fine-tuning a small model for my local news project was a month of my life I won't get back.
Last year I spent three weeks just cleaning up 200 emails for a similar project. I found that having at least 50 examples per category stopped most of the made-up stuff. Even then, you have to check its work constantly, which is the real time sink.

inHad a customer in a 1970s split-level in Akron tell me 'the breaker only trips when the microwave and toaster run together, so we just don't do that' like it was a normal fix.
Yikes, that's scary. Everyone jumps to old wiring or a bad plug, but what if it's the new "smart" dryer itself? Some of those have extra heating cycles and sensors that run way more power for way longer. A socket that handled a simple old dryer for years might not handle the constant high load from an eco-mode that actually cooks the lint trap clean.

inJust talked to a ranger in the White Mountains who said the Franconia Ridge Loop is getting closed for repairs next month, maybe for the whole season.
Yeah kevin_adams that's what I heard too about just the Falling Waters side. But honestly they never give exact dates, it's always "weather permitting" which means who knows.

inMy client in Portland insisted on running the main sensor wire through his new HVAC duct last month, which I warned against.
Actually, some requests can cause real damage like that short circuit. It's okay to push back when safety or the work itself is at risk.

inPSA: A landscaper in line at the hardware store changed my mind about post hole depth
That extra half-foot is a game changer in clay. Always better to overdo it than watch a whole line of posts tilt over the winter.
