Took me 9 months to realize my evidence was going to the wrong office

So I've been fighting my SSDI appeal since March, sending every piece of medical proof, doctor notes, and test results to the address on the initial denial letter. Last week I called the 800 number to check on my status and the lady says, 'Sir, that office stopped handling appeals in January.' I was floored. I had mailed about 14 packets of stuff to a dead office, including a nerve conduction study from my neurologist in Cleveland that probably would've helped my case. The only reason I found out was because I asked for a fax confirmation and she got quiet. Now I have to resubmit everything to the hearing office in Columbus and my timeline is totally shot. Has anyone else sent paperwork to the wrong place and had to restart the whole process? How long did that set you back?

Man, that is brutal. I had a similar mess with my VA claim where I kept sending sleep study results to the regional office in Seattle instead of the one in Portland, and it went on for about five months before a clerk finally flagged it. The worst part is how they just let you keep spinning your wheels, it is not like they call you and say hey, you are wasting your time here. Getting that nerve conduction study lost in limbo has to sting extra because that stuff is gold for proving nerve damage. Do not beat yourself up too hard, their whole system is set up to make you guess and they never tell you when you are wrong. Hope the Columbus office moves faster for you, and maybe try faxing everything this time so you at least get that receipt.
