Dropped $34 on a digital planner I never opened, back to my free template

I finally admit I blew $34 on that fancy yearly planner pack from Etsy back in January. It had all these hyperlinked tabs and dashboard pages, but I ended up just using the free Cornell notes template that came with Goodnotes. The thing is, the layout felt too cramped on my iPad mini and setting it up took me like 2 hours. Anyone else bought a planner bundle and just abandoned it for a simple sticky note or blank page?

Is the free template actually working for you, or are you just using it because it's the path of least resistance? I've done the same thing plenty of times, but I always wonder if I'm really being productive or just settling for something familiar. The real question is: what does your planner need to do that the free one isn't doing? Because if it's just about writing stuff down, a plain page is fine. But if you keep losing track of tasks or appointments, you might be missing a key feature that the fancy one had. What was the actual breaking point where you decided it wasn't worth the $34?
