Just figured out why my old phone cam still rocks for astro shots

All the hype over new specs is useless if you know how to work the manual controls.

Yeah totally, the basics you learn on old gear carry over to anything new too. Makes upgrading actually worth it instead of just chasing specs.

True story, my first camera was a hand-me-down point and shoot that took awful pictures. Learning on that junk taught me more about light than any fancy manual ever could. Now when I get new gear, I actually know what to do with it instead of just pressing buttons.
