A reader called my tech reviews 'spec sheet reading' and it stung
Someone left a comment on my blog last week saying my reviews just listed features without showing how they worked in real life. They said, 'Tell me if the battery actually lasts a full day, not just that it's 5000mAh.' I changed my next review for a new smartwatch. Instead of just the specs, I wore it for 72 hours and wrote down when I had to charge it during my normal routine. It died after about 28 hours, not the 36 the company said. Has anyone else gotten feedback that made you test gadgets differently?

Oh man, that's the best kind of painful feedback. It's like getting told your cooking is bland, but then you actually learn how to use spices. Good on you for actually wearing the watch for three days, that's the real test right there.

Yeah, the three day test is everything. I had a watch that looked great in photos but the strap just dug into my wrist after a few hours. By day two I was taking it off constantly. If you can't forget it's there, it's just not right.
