Shoutout to the client who offered me a flat $500 for a full website redesign
I was at a local networking event in Charlotte last Tuesday and overheard a potential client tell a designer that a fixed price was 'fair' for unlimited revisions. The designer just nodded and took the card. I walked away thinking that's a fast track to burnout, but maybe some people need the work that badly. Where do you draw the line on a lowball offer when your pipeline is empty?

Charlotte networking events are wild for that. A flat fee on unlimited revisions is a trap, not a deal. I'd rather do gig work than sign up for that nightmare.

Actually depends on the contract details. A clear scope of work up front stops the endless revision loop. It turns a flat fee into a predictable budget for the client, which some really value over hourly surprises.

Ever notice how this flat fee vs hourly thing pops up everywhere now? Like, my phone plan is "unlimited" but really it's got all these hidden limits. Seems like every deal promising no surprises just moves the surprise somewhere else. People get so focused on the price tag they forget to ask what's actually in the box.
