Am I the only one who swears by adding a pinch of borax to the melt?

It cuts down on slag like nothing else.

@kim_mitchell43's advice sounds good, but borax never really changed much for me.

A pinch of borax... does it really cut down on slag that much? Tried it and didn't see a huge change.

Figure you gotta watch the amount and timing, @umaknight. If your metal isn't clean or you're already getting a dirty puddle, a pinch won't save it. The borax really needs to get in there early to help float the junk out before it mixes in. A lot of folks use old or clumpy borax that's lost its kick, so a fresh box makes a difference. Try it on a fresh piece with a clean start and you might see it work better.
