TIL the new brewery in Springfield has a kombucha tap that smells like old gym socks

Honestly, I went to check out their setup last weekend and the whole place had this weird, funky smell right by the bar. Ngl, the bartender said it's their 'special wild ferment' but it honestly reminded me of my high school locker room. Has anyone else tried a kombucha that smelled that off but actually tasted okay?

Yeah, that's just how some wild ferments smell. Trust your taste buds more than your nose with those. If it tastes fine, it's probably just a strong culture.

I got a pint of that stuff and the bartender swore it was their best batch, but I took one whiff and had to hand it back after a sip. The taste was straight up like pickle juice mixed with dirty feet, not crisp or clean at all. Maybe my batch was just a bad one, but I'm not sure I'd roll the dice on that again.
