TIL the new brewery in Springfield has a kombucha tap that smells like old gym socks

Honestly, I went to check out their setup last weekend and the whole place had this weird, funky smell right by the bar. Ngl, the bartender said it's their 'special wild ferment' but it honestly reminded me of my high school locker room. Has anyone else tried a kombucha that smelled that off but actually tasted okay?

Yeah, that's just how some wild ferments smell. Trust your taste buds more than your nose with those. If it tastes fine, it's probably just a strong culture.

Totally agree with what @theaallen said about trusting your taste buds. I've had some funky smelling ferments that ended up tasting really crisp and clean. The nose can be so misleading with that stuff.
