Found a cheap trick for sanding knuckle scrapes on ceilings
Been fighting ceiling patches in a hallway with bad light, and my usual pole sander kept riding over the high spots. Wrapped a foam paint roller cover around a 2x4 block and used that for the final passes, total cost maybe $4 at Lowe's. Anyone else use simple stuff like that instead of buying specialty tools?

Oh man, that foam roller trick is genius! I did something similar last year but with an old sponge mop head. I was trying to smooth out a textured patch on my bathroom ceiling and the damn thing looked like a topographical map. I finally just taped a damp microfiber cloth around a paint stirrer and went at it in circles. It took forever but honestly worked better than anything I had in the garage. Now I feel dumb for not thinking of the foam roller, that would've saved me about two hours of arm fatigue. Do you think that would work on a really rough knockdown texture too, or is it better to just bite the bullet and rent a drywall sander?
