A plumber's one comment saved me $900 on bathroom tile

My contractor brought in his plumber to check the rough-in before I tiled the shower. He looked at the backer board and said, "you're waterproofing the floor but not the curb." I had no idea the curb needed its own membrane, I just planned to tile over it like every video I watched. I redid it with a preformed curb pan and sealant, cost me about $90 in materials. That one comment probably saved me from a rotting subfloor and a full redo, has anyone else caught a critical detail from a random tradesperson on site?

Thirty years in construction and I still watch plumbers catch things I miss. That curb is exactly the kind of detail that costs you six months of headaches later. Good on him for saying something.
