Swapping my corded drill for a brushless one after 12 years

I finally retired my old corded drill from 2008 last week, the one that weighed like a boat anchor and needed a 50 foot extension cord every time I built a shelf or fixed a fence post. The new brushless one cost me $140 at Home Depot, and it's scary how much lighter and quieter it is, plus no cord tangling around my legs. I mean, I always thought corded was the reliable way to go, but battery tech just got good enough that I don't miss the outlet at all. Now I'm wondering if I should ditch my corded circular saw next, has anyone else made that switch and regretted it or was it worth it?

Scary how much lighter and quieter it is" is doing a lot of work here. It's a drill, not a horror movie. You swapped a tool that did its job for 12 years for one that costs $140 and runs on batteries you have to charge and eventually replace. That's not progress, that's a subscription plan with extra steps. If the corded one still spun, you didn't retire it, you just got bored. The circular saw is even worse, those things eat batteries fast and then you're standing there with two dead packs and half a sheet of plywood cut.
