My old reciprocating saw finally died, now I get why people upgrade

Cut a 4 inch cast iron stack in my 1940s house last Saturday and the blade walked sideways, smoked, then the whole handle caught fire. I fought against buying a new one for 2 years because mine worked fine, but that one job changed my mind fast. Anyone else stick with old tools until they literally burn out on you?
