The guy at a Portland gallery show spent 10 minutes on one layer of my piece
Last month I hung a digital piece at a small gallery show in Portland, and a guy in a beat up denim jacket stood in front of it for about 10 minutes while everyone else walked right past. He finally asked me if the glow on the left side was a separate layer or just one big brush, and when I said it was 6 layers stacked on low opacity he just nodded and said 'yeah, that's why it breathes.' Do you all ever get feedback that specific from someone you don't even know?

that's why it breathes" is such a real thing, some people just see differently and you can't fake that moment. It's like when a stranger notices your dog is limping before you do, everyone else is walking by but one person is actually looking.
