I finally got my dad's old Zune working again after 6 years

My dad handed me his dead Zune last month that's been sitting in a drawer since 2018, and I spent 4 days rebuilding the hard drive with parts from two other broken ones I found on eBay. It booted up with all his old playlists still intact, which felt like finding a time capsule from high school. Has anyone else managed to revive a dead media player from the 2000s?

patricia_chen67 that's awesome about the iPod. My buddy found his old 60GB one in a box and the battery was swollen. He almost threw it away. Ended up spending like 30 bucks on a replacement battery and it fired right up. Weird how those old devices just refuse to stay dead. Makes you wonder what else is hiding in drawers. I still have my original 30GB Zune somewhere. Probably needs a new hard drive by now.

Started digging through my old laptop last weekend and found a battered 5th gen iPod with a clicking hard drive. Ended up swapping in a flash storage module and the thing runs better than it did in 2007. Nothing beats that feeling when old playlists load up and you remember exactly what you were listening to back then.
