My 2004 iPod mini finally died, and I'm honestly relieved
I know this community loves keeping old gadgets alive, and I did too. But after 6 months of nursing that thing with a replacement battery and a dodgy click wheel, it just gave up on Tuesday. The hard drive started clicking like a dying cricket. I tried the manual reset trick twice, no luck.
I think we romanticize keeping stuff going past its useful life. That iPod was great for 2005, but syncing it with my modern laptop took 40 minutes and left me with 12 songs. I'm not saying toss everything old, but maybe some things are supposed to retire.
Anyone else hit a breaking point with a beloved piece of dated tech? What made you finally call it?
