Question about a Reddit user telling me to lube stabilizers with dielectric grease, now my spacebar feels like mush
About 5 weeks ago I posted a pic of my first build, a Tofu65 with Gateron Yellows, and someone in the comments said to skip the Krytox and just use dielectric grease on the stabilizers because it's way cheaper. I had already dropped $180 on the kit plus another $60 on switches, so saving a few bucks sounded good. I lathered it on and now my spacebar and left shift feel slow and gummy, and the rattle is somehow worse than before. I already ordered new stabs and a small tub of Krytox 205g0, but should I also grab a wire brush to clean the old grease out, or just bin the whole set and start fresh?
I used to be all about the cheap route with dielectric grease too, figured why pay more for the fancy stuff. Then my stabs started feeling like wet cardboard and I gave up on being cheap. Grab the brush and clean the wires, the housing is probably fine once you scrub that goop out.
