I just hit 100,000 words on my fantasy novel draft and it feels weird, not good.

Honestly saw a writer on a podcast talk about this exact feeling. They called it the "big number blues" where a milestone feels hollow instead of good. Tbh it's like you've been running a marathon and just passed a sign, but the finish line is still way off. Ngl finishing a draft is a different kind of work compared to just hitting a word count. Makes sense to feel weird about it.

Yeah that "big number blues" thing @leelewis mentioned hits hard. Makes me wonder if the problem is focusing on the wrong finish line. Like, is the goal just to hit a word count, or is it to actually finish a story that makes sense? Maybe the hollow feeling means the goalposts need to move.
