Tried a new lube on my boom cable last week and it went way better than I expected

I usually just use whatever cheap grease the shop buys, but last Tuesday I grabbed a can of that dry-film spray from the truck supply place. Spent 20 minutes hitting the sheaves and cable on my 50-ton Grove before a big pick. The cable ran smoother than I've ever felt, no fling-off mess either. Anybody else tried those dry lubes on boom cables or am I overthinking it?

And honestly, the lack of fling-off might be the real winner here for anyone working around concrete pours, that stuff getting into a fresh slab is a nightmare to explain to the foreman. I'd be curious how it holds up if you're doing a lot of heavy picks in dusty conditions though, mine seemed to collect grit after a few days.

Oh man, that grit buildup is exactly what I was worried about with these. @wendy_murphy16, did you try brushing it off with a stiff brush or did it actually start working its way into the mechanism? I had a similar issue with a different brand where the dust caked up around the locking collar and made it stick after a few days of heavy use. That's the kind of thing that makes me hesitant to switch from my old setup even if the fling-off is better.
