Found out the stat on formaldehyde in keratin treatments and I'm not buying the panic
Was reading a 2019 report from the Environmental Working Group and they said some salon keratin treatments can hit 2 percent formaldehyde once heated, which sounds scary until you see the actual air test numbers in most shops. I've been doing smoothing services for 6 years at a place in Bakersfield and the real problem isn't the product, it's poor venting and techs skipping gloves. The popular take that we should all drop these services ignores that clients with textured hair often need them to avoid daily heat damage. Curious if any of you have actually measured air quality in your stations or is it just me overthinking this?
