Unpopular opinion: chasing leaks on my punch list for 3 months was the right call, not a waste of time
Everyone told me to just patch the visible water stains at the Dry Creek project and move on, but I spent 11 weeks tracking down the real source instead. I kept sealing spots that looked fine, then two days later a new stain would show up six feet away, and this went on through three separate rounds. Turned out a single bad solder joint behind a finished wall in unit 4B was feeding water down the stud bay into four other units. My PM was mad about the schedule slip, but we avoided ripping out drywall twice. Has anyone else had a punch list item that ate months because the cause was nowhere near the symptom?
