Got roasted by a 9 year old for my pull list at the comic shop

Kid behind me in line yesterday pointed at my stack and said 'those are all the same guy punching different guys.' He wasn't wrong, I had 9 books and 7 were superhero titles. Has anyone else had a young reader put their whole collection in perspective like that?

What's wrong with wanting to see the same guy punch different guys? That's like saying you only read mystery novels because they all have a detective solving a case. The kid's got a point technically, but he's missing why those books work. Superhero comics are comfort food, you know exactly what you're getting and that's the appeal. I'd rather have a stack of familiar faces than gamble on some indie book that might be pretentious garbage.
